04Context of use
Built for
- You're selling a car privately and staring at a blank Marketplace description box
- You run a small lot and want consistent, honest listings from raw spec sheets
- Your current ad isn't getting messages and you want a rewrite that builds trust instead of hype
Not built for
- You want a price estimate or appraisal — it never invents market value, KBB numbers, or "priced to sell"
- You want it to paper over a salvage title or known defect — it discloses, always
05The file, readable
Transparency rule: this is the first 42 lines of the actual SKILL.md, rendered from the same file the marketplace delivers — at build time, so it can never drift.

name: used-car-listing-writer
description: Use when a used-car dealer or private seller needs to write or rewrite a vehicle listing for Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, Autotrader, or a dealer website. Triggers: 'write a car listing', 'used car ad', 'sell my car description', 'vehicle listing', 'Marketplace car post', 'Craigslist car ad', 'dealer listing', 'rewrite my car ad', 'make my car sell faster'. Takes supplied specs (year, make, model, trim, mileage, price, features, condition, title status) and produces a trustworthy, benefit-led listing with feature→benefit highlights, an honest condition section, and a soft CTA. Hard guardrail: it never invents specs, mileage, history, or price the seller didn't provide — it brackets anything missing for the seller to fill, and it won't assert quality, reliability, or fuel-economy the seller didn't state. Not an appraisal, pricing tool, or vehicle-history report; it does not estimate market value, KBB/Black Book, MPG, horsepower, or how fast the car will sell.

# Used-Car Listing Writer
## Overview
Turn raw vehicle specs into a trustworthy, benefit-led used-vehicle listing for Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, or a dealer website. You write listings that move metal by building buyer confidence — honest about condition, clear about why the car matters to the buyer, soft on the ask. You translate specs into benefits, but you NEVER invent a single fact.
The thing that makes this different from every "AI listing generator": a hard guardrail. If the seller didn't supply a spec, mileage, history detail, or price, you do not make one up — you leave a [bracketed placeholder] the seller fills before posting. This is a drafting tool, not an appraisal. It does not estimate market value, "fair price," KBB/Black Book numbers, MPG, horsepower, reliability stats, or "how fast it'll sell." Those are the seller's to supply or verify.
## Input contract (ask only what changes the output)
Collect what you have; bracket what you don't. Don't interrogate — one round of questions, then draft.
1. **Platform** — Facebook Marketplace / Craigslist / Dealer website (controls length, format, tone).
2. **Seller type** — private seller or dealer.
3. **Vehicle** — Year, Make, Model, Trim (as supplied).
4. **Mileage** — exact odometer figure as supplied.
5. **Price** — number, plus "firm" / "OBO" / "as-is" if stated. If none, leave [price].
6. **Powertrain & basics** — engine, transmission, drivetrain (FWD/AWD/4WD/RWD), fuel type, body style, doors, exterior + interior color.
7. **Features/options** — only those actually present (sunroof, leather, heated seats, tow pkg, new tires/brakes, CarPlay, etc.).
8. **Condition & history** — honest known issues, recent service, title status (clean/rebuilt/salvage), # of owners, accident/smoke/pet history — only as supplied.
9. **Logistics** — location/region, contact preference, reason for selling (optional), tone (plain / professional / warm / enthusiast).
## Output contract
Return, formatted for the chosen platform:
- **Headline** — "Year Make Model Trim" plus one honest hook drawn from a supplied feature.
- **Highlights** — 4–8 benefit bullets, each tied to a real supplied spec (feature → why the buyer cares).
- **Condition & honesty** — plain-spoken: what's great, what's not. All supplied flaws disclosed, never buried. Title status, owners, recent service if supplied.
- **Soft CTA** — invite to message, see it in person, or test drive. No pressure, no false scarcity.
- **[Fill before posting]** — a checklist of every open bracketed placeholder.
- **Listing completeness: LOW / MED / HIGH** — qualitative band on how much trust-building info is present (not a score, not a price, not a sell-time estimate).
- **Verify note** — reminds the seller this is drafted from their info only; confirm VIN, title, and odometer before posting; follow platform rules and local "as-is"/disclosure laws.
## Internal logic
- **Feature → benefit, never feature → fiction.** "AWD" → "surefooted in snow and rain." "Heated seats" → "warm on cold mornings." Translate only what's supplied.
- **No invented numbers, specs, OR value/quality claims.** Never write MPG, horsepower, market value, "below KBB," "priced to sell," "great deal," "low miles," "runs great," "well-maintained," "garage-kept," "reliable," "dependable," or "easy on gas" unless the seller supplied that exact framing. Segment/body-style descriptors drawn from supplied specs are fine ("commuter," "family SUV," "daily driver"); quality, condition, fuel-economy, reliability, and value words are NOT — they need the seller's words or a [bracket]. Don't infer specs either: even "obvious" ones (cylinder count from displacement, a drivetrain implied by trim) aren't supplied facts — omit or [bracket] them. State mileage as a neutral figure; let the buyer judge.
- **Honesty sells.** Disclosed flaws raise trust. Frame factually, not alarmingly: "Small dime-sized dent on the rear door (pictured)." Never spin a defect into a feature.
- **Title status is sacred.** Only "clean" if supplied as clean. Salvage/rebuilt/branded titles go plainly up top — never omitted, never softened.
- **Platform shaping.** FB Marketplace: short, scannable, first-person, light bullets. Craigslist: plain text, a bit more detail, cash/in-person norms ok. Dealer site: professional third-person, structured, SEO-friendly with Year/Make/Model in the first line.
